    Factors Influencing the Participation of Crowdsourcing Solvers: Benefit or Cost

    Crowdsourcing has become a new channel for companies and organizations to collect the wisdom of crowds and reach business objectives. How to effectively motivate user participation and improve the quality of solutions has become an important issue that needs to be addressed in crowdsourcing research. While the influence of benefit factors on user participation has been widely tested, understanding of cost factors is still insufficient in extant literature. Based on social exchange theory, this paper proposed a research model to explain the impacts of benefit and cost factors on solver participation behavior as well as the moderating role of task complexity in crowdsourcing. The model will be tested using data from an online translation crowdsourcing task where solvers were invited to participate in the translation and fill out the questionnaire. This paper explores the differences in the factors which affect solvers participation intention and the quality of solutions. In addition, the role of task complexity can be found out by designing translation tasks of different task complexity and randomly assigning solvers to different tasks

    Analyzing and Optimizing AED Placement Locations in Big Cites—A Geographical Information System Analysis

    Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) has been identified as a significant public health issue in China. Numerous studies have demonstrated that using automated external defibrillators (AEDs) can significantly improve the survival rate of OHCA patients, but their low utilization rate is partly due to the accessibility of AED deployment sites. This study collects the location information of AED devices in three representative cities in China: Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen and then combines the kilometer population grid data (2021) with the AED geographic location data for visualization and data analysis through QGIS and Kepler.GL. Our model considers population distribution, subway, and road traffic factors and proposes a new method for AED index measurement. Through empirical analysis, we discovered that the existing AED distribution has an issue with unequal resource allocation. Thus, we have proposed specific suggestions on quantity and specific zones for AED deployment. Furthermore, this study proposes three specific suggestions for the problems currently in developing AEDs in China

    The Impact of Power on Information Sharing in E-Government

    In the digital era, information sharing is of utter importance to improving the quality and benefits of government services. At present, there is a lot of information housed by and distributed among different government agencies, which poses significant challenges and barriers to information sharing and dissemination. This paper presents a research model that examines some crucial factors, including administrative power, trust, perceived risk, and power games, that may affect information sharing in e-Government. The administrative power can be classified as coercive power and coordinated power. Trust, perceived risk, and power games are introduced as moderators of the power on information sharing in the research model. Results of our empirical study indicate that coercive power and coordinated power positively affect information sharing, and such effects are moderated by trust among employees and power ames. The research and practical implications of this tudy are also discussed

Many models have been given to explore the information diffusion procedure and its dynamics. But the trust relationship and memory effect are ignored. Based on the complex network theory, The information diffusion model is proposed and the network users, considered as agents, are classified into susceptible, infected and recovered individuals. The users’ behaviour rule and diffusion process are designed. The proposed agent-based model is tested by simulation experiments in four different complex networks: regular network, small world network, random network and scale-free network. Moreover, the effect of four immunization strategies are explored. The research results show that the influence of users’ trust relationship on different networks is varied, and the vertex weight priority immunization strategy is the best one in all four networks

    The Effect of Virtual Team Characteristics in Co-creation on the Quality of UGC Videos

    Co-creation is a newly emerging video production method on the UGC video platform. Based on the transactive memory systems and social capital theory, this paper describes the characteristics of the virtual team formed in the co-creation, and further explores the influence of virtual team characteristics and member characteristics on video quality. This paper collects 49,785 Bilibili co-creation video data, and uses natural language processing methods and quantitative analysis methods to carry out empirical research. The study found that the specialization of virtual teams has an inverted U-shaped impact on video quality, while coordination has a positive impact and credibility has a negative impact. Additionally, the trendiness and fame of team members can enhance the inverted U-shaped impact of specialization, and fame also enhance the impact of coordination. The research results provide theoretical support for creators and managers to optimize the co-creation mode on UGC platforms

Providing feedback is regarded as an effective design principle to promote user experience and performance in many contexts. Yet, there is a lack of study on how to design feedback to improve user experience and performance in citizen science projects. Based on feedback intervention theory and achievement goal theory, we propose a research model to depict the influenceof feedback types(task, self-referential, social feedback)on user experiences (perceived enjoyment, perceived meaning, and self-expansion), which then impact participation performance. Wealsoinvestigate whether auser\u27s dispositionalgoalorientation(mastery or performance) moderates the effects offeedback typeson user experiences. We will conduct an online experiment to validate our research model.The findings will provide the groundwork for guidelines and strategies to enhance useperformancein citizen science projects

    A Context-Dependent Sentiment Analysis of Online Product Reviews based on Dependency Relationships

    Consumers often view online consumer product review as a main channel for obtaining product quality information. Existing studies on product review sentiment analysis usually focus on identifying sentiments of individual reviews as a whole, which may not be effective and helpful for consumers when purchase decisions depend on specific features of products. This study proposes a new feature-level sentiment analysis approach for online product reviews. The proposed method uses an extended PageRank algorithm to extract product features and construct expandable context-dependent sentiment lexicons. Moreover, consumers’ sentiment inclinations toward product features expressed in each review can be derived based on term dependency relationships. The empirical evaluation using consumer reviews of two different products shows a higher level of effectiveness of the proposed method for sentiment analysis in comparison to two existing methods. This study provides new research and practical insights on the analysis of online consumer product reviews

    Blockchain Technology Application Maturity Assessment Model for Digital Government Public Service Projects

    With the deepening application of blockchain technology, exaggerating its empowering effects has become common. In recent years, the rational assessment of the maturity of blockchain technology applications in digital projects in different fields has been the focus of attention and identified as the key to improving the implementation effect of various digital projects. Although some studies have obtained substantial research results on technology maturity and its derivative applications, which can be used to predict the overall trend of a technology or guide the implementation of the technology on the ground, few studies have evaluated the maturity of blockchain technology in combination with different application scenarios. Our study combines application scenarios and the technical characteristics of blockchain technology and proposes an evaluation system for blockchain technology application maturity consisting of five primary indicators, that is, key application requirements, data security, process complexity, application ecological completeness, and technical performance requirements, and their corresponding secondary indicators. In addition, we take digital government public service projects as application scenarios and use the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) entropy method and expert scoring method to determine the weights corresponding to each index in the assessment system and construct a blockchain technology application maturity assessment model. Moreover, we apply the model to ten typical digital government public service projects to conduct a comprehensive assessment and analysis. By comparing the indicator scores of the different projects, we analyze the project characteristics influencing blockchain technology application maturity and provide suggestions for applying “blockchain + digital government public services”

    A scientometric analysis of e-participation research

    Purpose - Due to the increasing demand for public services, as a new form of public governance, e-participation has emerged. Scholars from various disciplines have published plenty of research results on e-participation. This paper aims to reveal the research status frontiers directly by mapping knowledge domains. Design/methodology/approach - The authors take 1,322 articles on e-participation published in Web of Science from 2001 to 2017 as research object. They then run the information visualization software CiteSpace to drill deeper into the literature data. Findings - The study found that e-participation research has the obvious interdisciplinary feature; the author and institution cooperation networks with less internal cooperation are relatively sparse; the USA ranks first in the field of e-participation research, followed by the UK, with the other countries lagged behind; and e-participation through social media is gradually becoming the new research focus. Originality/value - Based on the objective data and information visualization technology, the research intuitively reveals the research status and development trend of e-participation
